Let me start by explaining what is an anchor text for the benefit of others that are new to making money online. Anchor text is clickable text that when clicked will bring you to another web page or website. It is also affectionately termed as hyperlink.
The Internet is interlinked with the help of anchor text. Don’t be surprise if you are not getting any visitors although you have been consistently building content on you website.
In order to be indexed by the search engines, it is very important to drop an anchor text in a high traffic website. The easiest method is to write an article of your business and submit it to a popular Article Directory.
How to write an anchor text? I have written a post awhile back on Why Anchor Text Link Is So Important but I have not shown how to construct it. This is how an anchor text link looked like in HTML.

An anchor text link basically consists of 2 parts. Part 1 is the destination of the URL which is enclosed double quotation mark(“). I also used strike through text to help on visual. This is the web page where you want your user to land on. For my above example, I want my user to land on my home page.
Part 2 is the crux of an anchor text and it is very powerful which many didn’t use it to the fullest. This is the text just before the closing tag (</a>) of a hyperlink. For me I am trying to rank well for the phrase “make money online”, therefore I will use these words.
<a href=”http://www.makemoneymall.com/”>Make Money Online</a>
Every in-bound link is a vote of approval. The website that has the most links pointing back with the particular phrase will have a higher chance of being rank top for the phrase. For my case, if I have 100 “make money online” anchor text links pointing to my website as compared to another website with 50 “make money online” anchor text links, my website will rank higher than the other website.
This is a very simple illustration without considering other Search Engine Optimization (SEO) aspects. To start, you might want to learn more on importance of On-page optimization and importance of Off-page optimization as well.
The next important element to include in your anchor text is the target=”_blank” and it is place after the destination URL as shown next.
<a href=”http://www.makemoneymall.com/” target=”_blank”>Make Money Online</a>
Without target=”_blank” element in the anchor text, once a user clicks on it, he or she will leave your website immediately. But with this target=”_blank” element, the browser will open another window to show the new URL.

Sometimes the subject is presented in a really complicated way, but you make it clear and easy to understand. The addition of target=blank is one that I wouldn’t have thought of, but you’re right – it makes it so much easy to allow people to open up your website in a new browser window.

Hello, I am new to this and only just setup an onlinestore. Sometimes they all sound like another language..
The article was simple wnough to comprehend but after writing the anchor text I do not know how to put them on the blogs as i cannot put the html on the blog.
I do not know if I am making any sense but I am saying for example Make Money Online will show to viewers as MAKE MONEY ONLINE.
How do I do that and also any help on putting the anchor text on my pages so my website items can rank individually, i did the seo on all products but google seems to crawl just my homepage and not the inside.
On yahoo site explorer i have just one page and that is my homepage, other people have there products and so on

Anchor text is used to get your visitor to visit page A to page B. But as i have explained in my post, it is important to put your keyword or phrase so that user and search engines know what is the next page is all about.

Is it better to limit anchor text to just the key words, or is it ok to only include the keywords. For example. Instead of “make money online” what if the anchor text is “we teach you how to make money online.” Of course, with the hyperlink to a page that does teach how to make money online.

Make Money Online is a very popular niche and it is not easy to target.
You need to create lots of backlinks using “make money online” as your anchor text.
Therefore it will be much easier to target longer tailed keywords as you have suggested like “how to make money online” or “make money online surfing”.

Inbound links are links from external websites and outbound links are from your website to others.
Therefore in theory, inbound links will be more important than outbound links. This is because you can create any outbound links you want and you can’t force others to link back to you.
That is why article martketing is so important. This is to submit article to Fee Article Directories for one way back links.
