Before I share with you on how to create a blog, it is important to know what is the purpose of your blog. If you are a student and would like to create a blog for leisure, please use blogger as your platform. Otherwise you might want to sign up for a web hosting space which is what I am going to share.
To begin, you MUST have a registered domain name. If you do not, you might want to read my post on the importance of a search engine optimized domain name. Next visit godaddy to grab your domain name.
The conventional way is to head straight to http://www.wordpress.org and download the software and upload into the server space. This procedure is always a daunting task for any beginner and it still does for me.
Luckily our prayers have been answered. Most Web hosting companies have installed Fantastico script on their server. Fantastico is a system designed to make installing other popular scripts easy. But before we can use install a blog script from WordPress, you will need to buy a domain name which i will cover in the next post.
To begin, log into the cpanel of your web hosting account and scroll down the page until you see the “Fantastico” smiley face icon. To may access your cpanel by entering your domain name followed by a forward slash and the word cpanel http://www.YourDomain.com/cpanel
Next it will direct you to the page where there are alot of scripts installed on the server by the web hosting company that you want Fantastico to install. Look for the heading blog and choose WordPress.
Immediately it will bring you to the next screen and since this is your first installation, please choose “New Installation”.
Without any surprise, the next screen will load fast. So far we have not done any much work since all the installations are handled by Fantastico script. From the Installation Location drop down box, choose the domain name that you are about to stall the blog script from WordPress.

Do not type in your domain URL ! If you have bought your domain name and changed the DNS (Domain Name Server) from Godaddy to your web hosting, it will appear here. Simple give your blog a username and password to log into the admin panel of the blog when it is done.
This is where you update your blog with content and please DO NOT forget it and I suggest that you write it down. The rest of the fields are self explanatory and hit the “install WordPress” button and your blog will be installed.
